The following were the results of washing up of Oraig's tributors this week: Chesterman and party, 18ozs 4dwts, 18 grains ; Goudie and party, 7ozs 14dwts, 21grains. At a meeting of directors of the Oommisioner’s Plat Company, held on Mon* day, Mr E. Cutbbert was elected chair* man. Tenders were received for excavating the site for the dam, and the matter was left in the hands of the West Coast directors to satisfy themselves that the proposed site would hold water before ao* cepting tenders. The Island Creek dredge has not yet bottomed, but a preliminary washing up took place on Saturday. Mr Slowey expects to complete his contract for the construction of the Wareatea pontoons next week. The pontoons for the Golden Banner Company are now completed, but the directors deem it advisable not to send forward the machinery to the claim pending the results from the Grey River Consolidated Company, which adjoins the Golden Banner Company’s claim. For the four weeks ending June 6, the Nelson Creek dredge with 2750 z, held pride of place as a gold winner. The next highest was an Otago dredge with 1940 z. The Hartley and Riley dredge only got lOOoz in the same period. The Rosa Day Dawn Company are about to hold a meeting to devise ways and means to increase the capital for the completion of the dredge plant. This is owing to the dredge, being of a specially strong character, absorbing more money than was originally anticipated. Mr W, Inwood has been appointed master of the Consolidated vice Mr a. Crumpton, resigned. The latter has been appointed in charge of the Mokoia Company’s dredge.

In regard to the rich gold find at Ross the “Advocate” learns that it refers to the Kohinoor claim. The first bore, at a depth of 57ft, gave an average of 2s 5d per cubic yard, or £10,580 per acre; the second bore, at a depth of 58ft, gave an average of 9|d per cubic yard, or an average of £3,786 per acre; the third bore bottomed at 70ft, with results far richer than any yet obtained. The Ross Day Dawn contractors have been very much hampered by the bad weather. The pontoon deck will be finished in another week; the tower and gantJy are now completed and given fine - weather the work will bo out of the contractors bands this day week.

The following is an official report of a meeting of directors of the Waimangaroa Kiver Gold Dredging Company:—The directors met on Tuesday to receive the report of the Secretary, Mr G. C. Carter, who has been superintending the prospecting of the claim by shafting. He has now bottomed two 6fc x 4ft shafts, one at 26ft 6in, the other at 24ft lOin. The bottom in each case is a marine formation of packed sand. The prospects have exceeded the most sanguine expectations of the directors, and have left no doubt as to the value of the claim. The solid, careful manner of procedure adopted by the Waimangaroa directors in thoroughly ascertaining the value of their property before spending the shareholders money in a dredge should give satisfaction to the shareholders. Tenders will be called for the construction of pontoons, and arrangements are being made to acquire an up-to-date dredge.

The Mont D’or Company held its ordinary meeting on Thursday last. The only item of public interest was the letting of the blocks for twelve months, Mr W. Searle being the successful tenderer. The new road 'which has cost a pretty penny and is being made by the company, will bo finished in a few more days. The Totara dredge is afloat and has been working since last Tuesday. It is reported to be on very rich ground. At the extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the Alpine Extended Gold Mining Company, held at Lyell last Monday, the following directors were appointed :—Messrs Melville (Lyell), Bailie (Westport), M’Avthur, Castles, and Evans The directors struck a call of Iwopenco. It was shown to those present that the present prospects of the Company were of a very hopeful character. A contract is now being proceeded with in No 7 level, driving ahead into entirely new country, the face being now in a nice slate country showing every indication of the plose proximity of a reef, with water coming in freely.
