MINING NOTES.
Mr Norman M’Donald, who is the builder of the pontoons for the Greenstone Gold Dredging Company successfully launched them into the dam on Saturday. The pontoons aro the strongest yet built in the district and reflect great credit on the builder. We note with pleasure that the Duller Junction Gold Dredging Company has declared its first dividend of fid per share. This is indeed good news for shareholders especially when the fact is taken into consideration that the dredge has not been able to work full time during tho past month or two owing to a continuance of floods in the river. Wo congratulate the shareholders on the success of the Company’s operations, and hope this dividend will prove the forerunner of many such. The mine manager at Alpine Extended reports : —The contractors in No 7 level have driven 14 feet for the week, making the total distance driven since starting 68 feet. During the past three days there has been a favourable change. Mr Maynard, of the Keystone Borer, reports as follows on tbe third hole sunk in the Reef ton United claiyn near Ross : 4 foot to 30 feet, grs per yard ; 30ft to 45ft 4Agrs per yard ; 45ft to 50ft Idwt 4gr per yard ; 50f, to 58ft 7;jrgrs per yard.
