GREYMOUTH HARBOR BOARD.
The regular meeting of- the above Board was held last night, all members present. Owing to Mr Allen’s application, it was do tided to get Mr Clifford to assist in the ollice for some time.
Resolved that Mr Greenslade be appointed to temporarily take Mr Clifford’s position.
T ic Engineer in charge reported the boro-hole 155 feet down on Wednesday morning. It would be necessary to cable at once to Victoria for more crown heads with diamonds fixed. Mr Thompson’s report stated that the work was proceeding satisfactorily. Mr Mathieson moved that site for second bore be held over fill Tuesday.—Carried. The Finance Committee’s report was held over till next meeting. Letter from the Mines Department relative to bore hole; asking why site selected by Mr M‘Kay had not been followed. The members all stated that the site lie selected was being bored on, but a reply was held over till Tuesday for production of Mr MMLay’s report. In regard to Mr Jay’s application for lease of land, it was agreed on motion of Mr Matheson to grant lease, royalty to be 'charged at same rate as charged from time to time by the Government. Mr Campbell favored a charge per arce per annum, but would not oppose resolution.
Letter from Town Clerk, relative to memorial lamp.—Consideration deferred. An application from engine-drivers for increased pay was referred to the Finance Committee.
The application of Mr Shrives for lease of mound near flagstaff was refused, the Board requiring same. Mr Smith further reported that after going 165 feet trouble was met with, but he had got again started and was proceeding well. ■
