THE CHINESE DIFFICULTY
£ey electric telegraph.—copyright.]
(per press association.)
London, May 28. The Chinese officials are preparing for the Count’s reception. This is taken as another indication of the speedy return to the capital.
A considerable number of German troops remain temporarily at Kiaehau. Many Germans are irritated because the Americans latterly guarded one of the entrances to the forbidden City of Pekin.
This is interpreted as a reflection upon German honesty.
A slight fracas occurred owing to the disregard of an American’s sentry’s orders in connection with traffic repairs to the street, and one German was wounded.
