London’, May 28, Two B.ors who surrendered at Ermelo were allowed out to fetch other surrenderers, and they' brought to Middleburg 14 Boers, 12,000 sheep, 12,500 cattle, and 30 horses. They, pretended to break through the British lines, and thus outwitted Oppermann’s commando. Sir A. Milner’s speech caused exhilaration amongst the loyalists of South Africa, many of whom owing to Botha’s expressed dislike for Milner feared that his absence would bo indefinite.
