Another indication of the speedy return of the Court to Pekin is that the China Merchants’ Company of Shanghai is t ransmitting tribute for rice to Tientsin. The Times’ correspondent at Pekin reports that British peace proposals are likely to he adopted as the basis of the edict, in which Chinese indebtedness will ho admitted at four hundred and fifty million tae I s, plus interest. The Allies will then begin the work of evacuation. China is willing to comply with the terms laid down.

Tho Morning Post states that the Yunnun Syndicate has secretly projected a loan, having secured the right to construct a railway from Seoul to Pingyang. The German quarter Pekin, is to be experimentally entrusted to the Chinese authorities for a fortnight.
