Inquest.

At the inquest on the deceased Eichard Coakley, who met with an accident at Puketapu yesterday, a verdict of accidental death was returned.

Zone Railway Carriage

Wellington, May 25.

The Government has under consideration a suggestion by the National Dairy Association that the Zone system of charges be applied to the carriage of dairy produce. Divorce Court. In the Divorce Court, W. H. Ballinger was granted a decree nisi for divorce from his wife on ground of misconduct, James Stewart, of the Seventh Contingent, being joined as co-respondent. It is understood that Grant, Traffic Superintendent for the North Island, will be appointed Assistant-General Manager of Railways in succession to Hudson.

Mr Hudson, whom a cable message to-day announces has been appointed General Manager of the Tasmanian Hallways, was originally in the service of the Great Western Railway Company, in which, be ginning on the lowest rung of the ladder, has steadily worked his way up to the position of stationmaster. Coming to this colony, Hudson entered the railway service as a relieving officer at Wanganui, and he was associated with Mr Maxwell in the work of reorganisation, In 1884 he was appointed traffic manager on the Auckland section, whence he graduated to his present position of Assistant General Manager, Mr Hudson recently made an excellent tour of Tasmania, and acquired a thorough insight into the railway system of that colony.
