London, May 24.
Sir Alfred Milner met with tremendous receptions on arriving at Southampton and Waterloo Station, where Lord Roberts and many members of the Ministry welcomed him, Lord Salisbury and Mr Chamberlain escorted him to Marlborough House.
The King in a brief interview conferred a Peerage on Sir A. Milner, It is understood that Sir A. Milner is under the title of Lord Milner and takes his seat in the Lords in June.
The voyage greatly improved his health. He lunched with the King and dined with Lord Selbourne,
The newspapers are delighted at the Peerage as a sequel to the honors conferred by Queen Victoria on Lord Roberts in January.
