The Chambers of Commerce Conference adopted resolutions in favor of establishing a system of telegraph and cable lines connecting all the Southern portions of the British dominions and recommending all Chambers to support the Pacific Cable Scheme. Some speakers condemned the Sydney Chamber tor supporting the concessions to the Eastern Extension Company. A second resolution was adopted advocating the appointment of a Royal Commission to inquire into the sugar industry in Queensland and employment of black labor.
