BRUNNERTON MINE NOTES.

(OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Since I last wrote we have been plodding along, nothing new to write about, although the weather has been abominable it has in no way effected the work at the mines which is constant, plenty of empty waggons to keep the miners working which is our chief item of interest. Brunner Mine. The rise workings in the Brunner Mine arc about finished. All the buildings that were being erected there have been pulled down and arc being re-ereetod near the coke ovens to be used as storerooms. A start was made some time ago to get coal out of (ho old Coalpit Heath mine, but so far work is not being pushed ahead in that direction, although there is a large pillar of coal between the two mines easily to get at, and of splendid quality. The Wallssnd Mine. so far as I can learn nothing isbeingdono by Mr Taylor towards floating the mine. The statements of Kennedy and others throwing a damper oa negotiation. Although wo hero have our own opinions on the property it docs not count against capital. The Tyneside is about in the same position, but the want of machinery is flic drawback bore not capital. Jf il is floated the shares wiil ho subscribed for locally. The owners are at present negotiating for plant, and I trust to see it soon in working order. The Miners’ Meeting

which was to have been held during the current week to elect their otlleers etc. lapsed, the members evidently being satisfied with those at present in olllce.
