INTER STATE BOAT RACE.
(PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.)
Sydney, May 4. The Inter-state eight-oar race on the Parramatta Eiver resulted :—Victoria 1, New South Wales 2, South Australia 3, Queensland 4. From a good start the New South Wales crew was the best away and maintained the lead to Blatuland Point, where the Victorians, whose form throughout was much superior to any of the others, forged ahead. The local crew stuck manfully to their work and made some good spurts towards the finish, but could not overhaul the Victorians, who won by a Ii ngth and a quarter. Queensland and Sooth Australia were practically out of it early in the race.
Six South Australian men who were originally chosen became sick, substitutes replacing them. Time 17 42. The Amateur Sculling Championship was won easily by Daley (New South Wales), who beat Stack (Queensland).
