Very few assistants would havo to rctiro under tho scheme which would result in assistants being availabla for responsible country positions at a higher salary than they were now receiving. Qualifying tho statement ho mado yesterday regarding salaries ho said his personal opinion was not that after a living wage had been reached, that the salaries of men should be double that of women, but in case men were in excess, over living wage should be double the excess in case of women. Tho Commission this afternoon i 3 visiting the city schools to seo tho mannor of working.
