FIRE IN BLACKBALL MINE.
No Serious Consequences Antici pated.
Word readied (own to-day that a fire had again broken out in (lie Bln.ckba.il Mine, and all manner of alarming rumors were speeding Hying about. Apparently, however, there is no uau.se for alarm ; the lire is small, and is now sealed up.
The outbreak occurred in one of (lie boords. The miners were withdrawn from the mine workings and the locality at once boarded up to prevent any spread. This afternoon one of Greymouth's Fire Brigade engines go up with a detachment of firemen, and it is hoped that they will speedily extinguish the flames.
Mr Scott has taken every precaution and is confident that all will be clear within a few hours of getting the water on, and hopes to see work renewed tomorrow.
