The Cabinet requested thai; New South Wales take steps to facilitate the selection of a suitable. land site for the Capital and thus advance the labourers of the Federal Koyal Commission, which will be appointad to deal with the matter-
They considered a letter from the New South Wales Agent-General relating to the Kerguelen Islands. It was decided to request the Imperial authorities to negotiate with France for the transfer of the Island to Britain. Kerguelen is of value to the Commonwealth, it being directly in track of vessels trading between Australia and the Cape.
