AN UNPOPULAR APPOINTMENT
[BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.] (PER TRES3 ASSOCIATION) Received this day, at 10 27 a m. Sydney, April 12. _ Lyne is surprised at the hostile criticism of Fegan's appointment. He thinks the critics'are speaking without knowledge. Adelaide, April 12. The Register commenting says that even the most indulgent critic finds it impossible to endorse Lyne's action. Brisbane, April 12. The Courier says if the appointment is allowed it will be repeated by other ministers to secure support of the worst form of patronage. In every way it is indefensible, and injustice to the public service in all states, and is a reflection upon the purity of political life, and an insult to Australia.
