Botha, De Wet, and Steyn

Received this day at 9 17 a.m, London, April 10. Colonel the Hon .1. H. G. Byng, commanding the South African Light Horae, captured sixteen Boers, fifty horses and a quantity of ammunition at Bosmansdorp. A British patrol guarding a post in Namaqualand wore captured by the enemy. The post has still been re-occu-pied by the British, The Women’s Liberal Unionist Association have pamphlets giving authentic information in regard to South Africa and is counteracting the calumnies against the British. Lausdowno has appointed a commission to investigate the claims of foreigners deported from South Africa to Europe. After staying on a farm near Heilbron with Steyn and Do Wet, General Botha returned to Transvaal. Schalkburger has removed his headquarters from Leydsdorp to an inaccessible part of the Zoutpansberg mountains. Two brothers named Cottzc, farmers, were brought to Matching on a charge of harbouring Boers who offered surrender when the British visited Cottzo’s farm, but who instead of fulfilling their promises killed one British, wounded another and then escaped. Cape Colony loyalists arc delighted tha. the lenient Trea; on Act has been supert seded, good effect following.
