THE HOKITIKA RACES.
The attendance on the second day was fair and the racing good. The amount putthrougn the total sator was £1077, making a total for the meeting of £2220. The Times says “ Notwithstanding the position, the Club comes out with a substantial profit, a gratifying result after the hard work of the Committee, and indefatigable secretary. Mr Redwood scored two successes with Sanfoin, which was well ridden in each case and showed his excellent metal. Both wins were heartily applauded. Petroline was as full of spirit as ever and landed another win for her lucky owner. Lambert, the boy jockey who rode Sanfoin in his two wins and also Sarah Jennings in here, dis: tinguished himself for his correct riding and achievements for one day. Amongst the visitors was the Eight Hon. tho Premier and Mrs Seddon, who were warmly greeted by a host of old friends and the general public. Tho following are tho results:—
