MORE ROLLING STOCK REQUIRED,
{To the Editor.)
Sir,—l was considerably surprised on Saturday evening last, at the management of the Railway Department permitting the G 25 train to Otira to leave the platform. Only two carriages were attached, and they were so crowded that it was almost impossible to obtain standing, much less sitting room. A smoking compartment about 10ft in length contained upwards of 25 persons, a number of whom were compelled to stand on tho platform, and hang on to the guard bars, one person narrowly escaping falling off. Besides this tho atmosphere inside the crowded car was almost intolerable.
As this is not tho first occurrence of tho kind lately, I trust that it will not bo repeated, otherwise a serious accident may take place. Thanking you for your space. lam etc.,—
A Resident, Lake Brunner, April Bth, 1901.
