John J foughton pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court to nine charges of thieft, hut as there are four charges of forgery to bo preferred against him in the Supremo Court, his sentence was left to it higher court. Seventh Contingent. Wklimxgtox, April 5. The definite arrangements and work of embarkation of the Seventh Contingent arc fixed for Saturday. The Governor, Premier and Mayor of Wellington will address the men before they go on board. Commonwealth Contingent. The Wellington Garrison Band accompanied the Commonwealth Contingent to Melbourne. A Trooper in Trouble. Trooper Canty (Second Contingent) was convicted ;il tlio Magistrate's Court on a charge of grave assault on a Chinaman, but, in view of his excellent lighting record, was let oil! with a line of C'2 and ,C;5 10s costs.
