There'was a fair sprinkling of ratepayers ; and, after a good deal of discussion, it was ultimately agreed to present a requisition to the Mayor, asking him to convene a public meeting, at which'candidates should express their opinions.

A vote of thanks to the returning officer terminated proceedings.
