A few candidates arc holding meeting* to-night, but the final party rallies were held earlier in the week. Tho Commonwealth has to elect :!G members. For the Senate there arc 125 nominees to choose from classified as follows: Ministerial 51, Opposition CO, Independent 16, Labor B—for 75 seats. House —187 candidates. Those nominated are classified thus: Ministerialists !)!>, Opposition Gb\ Independent 12, Labor 10. The preparations arc complete for a great vote to-morrow, when the states of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Wcstralia will select their representatives' election for Queensland and South Australia taking place tho following day. The campaign, which throughout has been marked by quiet, steady, earnest work on the part of all parties and a want of petty bickerings amongst. Candida'<h and voters alike, is being fully seiz d with the momentous nation-making issue at slake. Mr L'eid, through the Press, issued his last woul of appeal on behalf of frcotrado. Ho urges tho ilectors to rally round the standard of liberty. The freetraders to-night arc holding a demonstration at the inhibition Building' The Protectionists are doing likewise in Moore street. Otherwise ' the city is quiet, and there lit'olo to indicito to-morrow's great vent.
