MAGISTRATE'S COURT KUMARA.

Robert Murdoch was. charged on the information of the police with using obsone language in the hearing of the public, in the yard of Rugg's Hotel Kumara, on the morning of March 21-fch, between the hours of '.) and 10. Mr Murdoch appeared for accused, who pleaded not guilty. After hearing the evidence of J. Rug", Charles Gray and the police, Mr Murdoch addressed the court contending that the place mentioned was not a public place under the meaning of section 2, of the Police Offences Act.
His Worship held the point to bo fatal and dismissed the charge, at the same time administering a severe lecture to accused, warning him that should he appear again he will be dealt with severely.
