KUMARA JOCKEY CLUB.
(our kumara correspondent.)
At last night’s meeting of the Stewards of the Kumara Jockey Club, an ofEer was received from the Kumara Catholic Brass Band to play at the forthcoming race meeting gratis. The generous offer was gratefully accepted, and a letter of thanks ordered to be sent to the band. A sub-committee was appointed to complete arrangements for coaches at the railway station to meet the trains. It was estimated that sufficient coaches can be provided to carry 500 people. Several committees were appointed to attend to different matters of interest. Every credit is duo to the members of the Catholic Band for their prompt action in coming forward to assist the Jockey Club to fight a battle that has been thrust upon them. It is fully expected that the public of the district will do their part, if so, then we will come out of the ordeal triumphantly.
