ANNUAL MINING MEETINGS.
The following is tho report of the directors of tho Lee’s Ferry Gold Dredging Company for submission to shareholders at the annual meeting to be held on 2(1 ;h inst
“In accepting office your directors did not consider it advisable to proceed at once letting contracts for the construction of a dredge to work the company’s claim but deemed it advisable to wait until some dredges then under construction for neighboring claims on the Grey River had commenced work, and to some extent proved the auriferous nature of the Grey River for dredging purposes. Subsequently your directors have visited the Coast and came to the conclusion that boring and further prospecting of the claim should be done with a view to finding out the payable value of the claim, and instructions to proceed with this work wore given to M-i J. H. Chester. This gentleman has now completed boring operations, his report being, in the directors opinion, of such a nature as to warrant them in calling an extraordinary meeting of shareholders for the purpose f considering a proposal to wind up the company voluntarily. The notice for .ueh extraordinary meeting and resolution are sent you herewith. During the year Mr W. E. Cook retired from the board, and Me H. E Easton, was asked to fill the vacancy. The annual meeting of the Golden Grey Gold Dredging Company is to be hold on April 3. In the report of the directors it is stated that when they were appointed it was considered that as the Grey Eivcr was not proved as regards dredging they deemed it advisable not to take steps to have a dredge constructed until some of the adjoining claims had shown payable results. During the year the directors visited the Coast, and made arrangements with an expert to have the claim bored. They hope to be able to lay bis report before tbo shareholders at the annual meeting. During the year Mr W. E. Cook retired from the directorate, and Mr H. E. Easton was appointed in his place. The retiring directors arc Messrs Easton and Somerville, who offer themselves for re-election. The annual meeting of the Wicklow Gold Dredging Company will be hold on die 28 h March, ’The report to bo preented to shareholders is almost precisely similar to that of the Golden Grey Company. The retiring directors are Messrs -Somerville and Ldjon, who offer thera--elvcr for re-election.
