SCHOOLTEACHERS’ SALARIES.

Wellington, March 19.
The Education Department having asked the Education Board to make special recommendations for increases to teachers’ salaries, the following proposals of the Board will bo brought up for ratification at to morrow’s meeting—that aided schools receive capitation at the rate of £5 per head of average attendance instead of £3 15s; that those in charge of schools with an average attendance of from 15 to 20 receive an increase of £2O each, making the salary of £120; of from £25 to £3O an increase of £lO, making the salary £130; that all exceptional teachers have an increase of £8 per annum, and all pupil teachers £3; that the scale of assistants bo made more liberal and their salaries gradually improved wdth increase of attendance.
