GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB.
Autumn Meeting.
Yesterday was wot and disagroeeble, but the attendance was better than on the first day, while the racing was excellent, being with ono exception—that of the hurdles—the best day's racing for some time past. In the hurdles the Stewards were dissatisfied with the running of Nayborn, and administered a caution to the rider. The results were as follows:
FLYING STAKES. 153 -Petroline, 8 10 1 48 Garmoran, 7 8 2 44—Dialogue, 7 4 3 The winner had this race from the Btart. Time, 164 5. Div, £2 2s. NGAHBRE HACK. 74—Artillery Maid, 712 ... 1 45—Skirmisher, 9 2 ... 2 65—Eeikura, 7 8 3 Surrey (129) also started. Eeikura led half the distance, when Skirmisher took the lead with the Maid on close attendance. At tho turn into the straight, Mr. Claughesy's mare took the load and won by half a length, Time, 13G 4-5. Div, £3 16s. MIDLAND EAILWAY. Will-o'-the-Wisp, 910 ... 1 Haria, 7 G f Abaydos, 9 8 3 Abaydos led for five furlongs when "Will-o'-the-Wisp and Haria closed up. At the turn into the straight, Abaydos fell back beaten and Will took the lead, Haria pressing hard but never able to get on terms with Will who won by a length. Time, 2 4 1-5. Div, £l l3s. lIUEDLES. 121—Huntingdon, 10 2 ... 1 298—Apremcte, 9 7 —2 119—Nayborn, 10 9 ... 3 Huntingdon took the lead from the start, and Apremete upon whieh the public evidently depended could not do it. Nayborn kept his last place throughout. Time, 3 7 3-5. Div, £4.
COUNTY. 115—Speculator, 710 ... 1 104—Heiress, 8 8 2 80—Abaydos, 9 10 3 Petroline and Sanfoin also started. The former ran into.the post at the start and did not proceed further. The winner came with a fine run at the end and won by a couple of lengths. Time, 122 1-5. Div., £4 4s. AHAURA HACK. 73—Sarah Jennings, 712 ... 1 52—Skirmisher, 9 7 2 146—Crusader, 8 2 3 Eeilcura(3l) also started. The winner|led throughout the others all close, up except Skirmisher who came with a great rush and was only beaten by a head. •This was a great race. Time 124 4-5. Div £315. FAREWELL. 124-Haria, 710 1 176—Abaydos, 9 7 2 70—Garmoran, 7 8 3 Tukurangi (37) and Hotu (120) also ran. This was the best race of the meeting. At no one time was there more than two lengths between first and last horse, and at times the five were almost abreast. Tho winner ultimately just got home by a short head. Time 1 24. Div £3 16.
