THE CONWAY CASE.

The Dunedin correspondent of the Christclmrcli Press telegraphs to them as follows :—" Mrs. Smith, who has been arrested in connection with the Conway mystery, lived at Ravensbournc, and is the wife of an employee in the City Root Palace. Refore leaving Dunedin she circulated a statement among her friends that she had inherited a fortune, and was going to Sydney to fix up matters. Her husband has consulted a local lawyer with a view to obtaining legal assistance for his wife in Sydney, and it is understood he will leave for there by the Mokoia. Some of the witnesses who were acquainted with Mrs. Smith are scattered over the district, and difficulty is experienced in finding them out. One male witness has so far escaped the vigilance of the police, but they are confident of ultimately tracking his whereabouts. Fresh facts are daily coming to light, and judging by the strange rumours afloat the case is likely to prove the most sensational one heard for many a day." Unless the investigation into the case is adjourned to this colony (according to 'Truth'), it will necessitate about a dozen witnesses from Christchurch and elsewhere going to Sydney. A number of people are visiting the Christchurch Police Station, aud giving as much information as they possess bearing on the case.
