GREYMOUTH TROTTING CLUB.

Yesterday, although the weather was perfect, the attendance was not more than about 1,500. But all enjoyed (hemselves well. The trotting was good throughout, the lad event being particularly exciting, Transvaal winning by a short nose. There was only one cause for complaint during the meeting, and that was a protest for what was practically an unintentional starting of two sulkies during the second round in a race, but which, it was held, did not interfere with the result and the protest was dismissed. During the day £1,592 were put through the totalisator. The (Dividends were all sizes, from £ll7s to £34 14s, The results wsre as follows:

TRIAL HANDICAP. Marafelt 1 41—Larrikin ... ... 2 29—Minnesota ... 3 The Duckling, Screw Jack and Quicksilver also started. Marafelt, well driven, won by four lengths, Larrikin taking second place by half a length. Time, ClO 1-5, Dividend, £1 19s. tradesman’s handicap, 25 sovs. 18—Cable 1 11—Lady Agnes 2 140—Pilot ... ... ... -3 Index also ran. Pilot trotted badly, Cable on the contrary going well and overhauling Lady Agnes in the last round and winning by a couple of lengths, a like distance between second and third horses. Time, 535 1-5. Div, £lO 19s. TROTTING CLUn HANDICAP, 50 SOVS. 41—Unknown 1 120—The Workman 2 3—The Duckling ... 3 Allerton, Jennie and Prudence also started. Allerton trotted very badly. The winner assumed command on fifth round, and a good race ensued between the two leading horses, Unknown winning by a length. Time, 5 37. Div, £7 14s,

Prudence and Screw Jack also started. This was a good run between the two placed horses, Larrikin repeatedly breaking. Time, 546 4-5. Div, £1 17s.

Four others started. Daystar trotting truly overhauled the field about a fur_ong from home and won by a length. Time, 234 'l-5. Div, £34 14s.

The limit, 34 seconds, was never headed, and won easily. Time, 447 2-5. Div, £3 7s.

Three others started. This ended in a close finish, Transvaal getting the verdict by a short head. Time, 5 30. Div, £2.

Bereford, pretty black and white costume with hat to match.
