Terrible Loss Through Drought. Brisbane, March 14.
The effects of drought at nine stations in Gregory District last year carried away a hundred thousand cattle ; a hundred and forty-two thousand sheep ; and two thousand horses. There are now only nine hundred cattle left, 48,000 sheep, and four hundred horses,
The Coningtiam Casa. Sydney, March 14. In the Coninghani case the solicitor, Moss, who acted for petitioner in the last case, produced a written statement sent by petiiioner for revision by his wife as to the evidence he was to get and give at the former trial. Petitioner and respondent had both denied the existence cf the papers. Petiiioner explained the denial stating that Moss told him that the papers had been torn up. This Moss denied. Respondent, when shown the papers, said that he had never seen them before or made alterations therein. Crossexamination of respondent has concluded.
