AGRICULTURAL, PASTORAL, MINING, FORESTS’ ASSOCIATION.

A largo and enthusiastic mooting of those favorable to the formation of a Society as above was held last night in the Club Room Albion Hotel. On the motion of Mr Petrie Mr Kel tic was called to the chair.

The Chairman explained the object of the meeting, and pointed out that if taken properly in hand it would no doubt prove a great success, lie called upon Mr Petrie who was the primary mover in the matter to more fully explain mailers.

Mr Petrie said that at a preliminary meeting he had bean deputed to gather the necessary information. He had obtained letters of advice and offers of assistance from all the kindred societies in Now Z inland, with copies of rules, programmes, and other data. The general opinion hero appeared to be to include Mining and the Timber Industry. He had had ample promises of support, both from town and country aad intimated that Messrs Speight and Co the well-kn .wn I)U'wlm brewers had promised him a valuable cup for competition. He in wed that a society to be known as the Grey Agricultural Pa tsral Mining and Forest Association be now formed.

Mr M’Brearty in seconding, said there was plenty of scope for the association,, which, if well managed, would become a real live concern.

Messrs Parfit, Campbell, Grogan, Hamilton, Noonan, Wilsm, Wickes, Kettle, M’Quoen, Kitchingham, Kirwin, Harley, and others supported the proposal which was then carried. The following other resolutions wore then carried: —•

Proposed by Mr Petrie, seconded by Mr Kettle that Mr Morse bo elected secretary, protem. Carried. Proposed by Mr P. Grogan, seconded by L’r. M’Brearty that the members annual subscription bo £1 Is. Carried, Proposed by Mr M’Queou, seconded by Mr F, W. Wilson that life members subscription be £3 ss. Carried. Proposed by Mr J. Petrie, seconded by Mr D. Campbell, that a provisional committee con-isting of those present bo elected. Carried.

Proposed by Mr R. Kettle, seconded by Mr M. Noonan, that the following country members bo added to the committee; Messrs Marshall and Young, Totara Flat. Dunn and Hargreaves, Ahaura. Scott. Blackball. A 1 ison, Brunner. Johnston and Mirfin, Ikamatua. Mallinson, Kotuku. Poulson, Toremakau. B.'uce, Inchbonnio. J. Baxter. Kokiri. J. Wilson, New River. 0. Belltw, Haupiri. Byrne, Paroa. E. Larkin, Ne’son Creek. MoKechnie, Maori Creek, E. Harris, Greenstone, Russell, Marsden. T, Ford. Kumava.

And that the Secretary send a circular t) the above members re their willingness t > act, and canvass their several districts lor support.

Proposed by Mr Kitchinham that the Chairman, Mr Petrie, the Secretary, moved to be appointed to draft rules for the Association and submit them to the H3\t meeting. Seconded and carried.

Proposed by Mr Kettle that Dr Meßreavtybc elected treasurer. Carried.

Proposed by Mr Petrie, seconded by Mr Wickcs that canvassers be appointed to canvas the town for support. Carried. Messrs Kettle and Campbell Hast Ward, Petrie and Wickes Middle Ward, Grogan and Harley West Ward. Proposed by the Chairman that the meeting adjourn [until Wednesday, 3rd April. Carried.
