Mr King, Government Auditor, is in town on his usual tour of inspection, Mr Ring, photographer, has returned to town from his northern trip and as usual has brought a number of fine photographs with him. The prospecting of the Daylight Dredging claim by Mr Glossip gave an average of 13 grains per yard. Our Totara Flat readers may look forward to a groat troat on Thursday evening, tho Jubilee Singers having arranged to give one of their first class concerts in Erickson's Hall. Tho reputation of the company is so well known throughout New Zealand that their is no need for further comment. The District Elecrors List for the Borough of Brunnor, is now open for ins|K'c)ion nL the council chambers Wallsend during office hours. Another case of scarlatina is reported at Bimu. Notwithstanding this it was decided to rc-opon] tho school there this morning, Tho shareholders of the Economic Building Society will sell two £IOO allotments this evening at the Society's office, Hospital Street. "Work on the bridge across the lagoon is being pushed on with all possible expedition. It the Foundry would only get the crane across to Cobden quarry, work there would be more rapid. A tunnel is now being driven. The Mapourika got. into port to-day about half-tide, without the slightest difficulty. It is to be hoped she will be continued in the trade. It is pretty certain her withdraw will cause a good deal of discontent. Tho trade fully warrants her retention along with tho Wainui and Haupiri. Properties continue to change hands. Messrs H. C. Harloy and Co, on Saturday disposed of Mr Morris's section off Tainui Street, to Mr W. Baxter, at a very satisfactory figure.

Horso owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Kumara races, to be run on Easter Monday and Tuesday close with the secretary, G. E. Eudkin tomorrow evening at 8 o'clock. This Club will no doubt receive from horso owners the support it deserves. Its programme contains events for the first-class racehorse, hack and trotter, and we understand that it is contemplated by the ste- ■ wards to add another substantial trotting event to the programme on each day, this no doubt will be received with delight by the trotting fraternity, The track was never bettor, and all outbuildings and fences have been put in repair, and the course.and appointments now rank amongst the best. It is the Club's intention to cater liberally for the public and judging by their past displays in this respect there will be nothing left undone to make the meeting on Easter Monday and Tuesday rank as one of their best efforts. The Eed Eose Football Club have secured the use of the Catholic Gymnasium to train for this season. The first practice will be held to-nigbt, when members only will be admitted. As tho match with the Star Club takes place on the 23rd inst, all aro requested to attend practice. At the annual meeting of the Press Association complaint was made regarding tho serious delay in transmission of messages, there being in the opinion of tho Association members, neither sufficient operators or wire accomodation to meet requirements. A good mauy folks in the district can bear testimony to this shortcoming. The fact of the matter is business has outgrown the accomodation, and Government is disinclined to advance with tho requirements. We aro asked by Messrs Sharland and Co Ltd., of Wellington and Auckand, to mention for public information that they are the sole proprietors and exclusive manufactures in New Zealand of tbat admittedly successful liver and kidney 'specific," Impey's May Apple." Their right to this popular remedy, it should 1 perhaps be stated, has been acquired by purchase from the inventor, Mr Matthew Impoy. The care now taken in tho preparation of "Impey's May Apple," and tho scientific exactitude with which the constituents of this sterling vegetable medicine are compounded, have made the public give it their confidence to an unusual degree. Eecently, tho sa'es in some parts of tho Colony have moro than doubled. During the last three months, for example, closs on 20,000 bottles were disposed of. An announcement in our advertising columns notifies the time for closing of the Kumara entries. The cause of Kumara having to run against Hokitika this Easter is in tho first instance duo to the Kumara Club in not notifying their representative at the Conference—Mr Whin Williams—or Mr Petrie, tho Metropolitan representative—of the clashing of dates, and perhaps the two in a lesser degree in not looking moro circfully over the list. But thon the latter were informed that no other dates clashod other than thoso that were dealt with.

The Aldolpia Dramatic Company arrived by the Mapourika this morning, and proccods on to Hokitika by tlm afternoon train. Thoy appear at Groymouth on Friday, and will plaj during tho race nights.
