AUCKLAND LABOR DISPUTE
(per press association.) Auckland, March 7. Messrs Tregear and Jackson Palmer, M.H.H., interviewed Mr H. P. Barry, superintendent of the Waihi Gold Mining Company, requesting reinstatement of the men recently dismissed. , Mr Barry said they wore unsuitable. Mr Palmer pointed out that it was singular that these particular men were the executive of the Miners’ Union and old hands. Mr Barry replied they created strife amongst their fellow workmen and he would not alter his decision.
This Day
The result of Mr Tregcar’s interview with Mr Barry of theWaihi mine, is that the latter agreed to reinstate the men dismissed from the mine since the presentation of the union demands as soon as they drop the dispute. Molloy, secretary of the Union and Dunn, will be reinstated forthwith owing to Tregcar’s personal assurance that they look no active part against the Coy, which acknowledges the important principal that officials of the Unions are not to be singled out for presenting a claim. These concessions may result in a satisfactory solution of tlio difficulty when a ballot of the Union will taken next Saturday.
