BUBONIC PLAGUE.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.)

Sydney, March 4. A diagnosis proved that Oben -was affected with true plague. Three rats caught on the Antillian were found to be suffering from plague. The crew, numbering over 80, were put in the quarantine station. So far there is no sign of further sickness.

The vessel was thoroughly fumigated. No troopship will be allowed to leave the port till the Board of Health certifies to the entire absence of danger. This will delay the despatch of the contingent. Arrangements have been made between the Board of Health and the city council to co-operate in carrying out precautionary measures to prevent the recurrence of the disease and preclude the kind of friction which marked the last outbreak.

Sydney, March 4.

Arrived, troopships British Princess and Eauel, from the Cape. They have been quarantined. Three hundred rats were caught aboard the troopship Templeinorc, and 50 ratters are at work in the city. All the vessels mooring at the wharves have been ordered to put metal discs on the ropes to prevent the rats coming ashore.
