The Dnnadin Races.

Dunedin, February 27. The weather was lovely, the racing excellent and the finishes exciting. The jockeys all wore a band on the arm as mourning for the Queen. Paladin broke a leg in the Cup and had to be destroyed. The amount put through the tote was £6,181, as against £7,948 for the corresponding meeting last year. The results are :
Hurdles —Ilex 1, Dundee 2. Only the pair started. Won by a neck. Time, 3 20; div., £1 6s. Hack Handicap—Muscovite 1, Gun Eose 2, Keclan 3. Time, 1 47; div., £6 12s.
Champagne Stakes Mensehikofli 1, Windwhistle 9, Count of Kolmar 3. Canteen went to the post, but whipped round when the tapes went up and took no part. Won easily. Time, 1 20; div., £l4s.
Dunedin Cup—Jupiter 1, Pampero 2, Nihilist 3. All started. Won by a head after a splendid race between the first pair, Nihilist three lengths away, a head m front of Glenalade. Time, 239 2-5. Div, £lO 9s.
Maiden Plate—Terrapin 1, Komuri 2, Grand Shot 3. Time, 1 46. Div, £1 18s. Publican's Handicap—Hcrmosa 1, Brisa 2, St Denis 3. Won by a short head. Time, 1 31, Div. £3 los.
Selling Pace—lllumination 1, .Battle Cry 2, Proposal 3. Time, 118. Piv, £7 3s. Stewards' Purse—La Peine 1, Gold Spur 2, Chance 3. Time, 119. Div, *A
The Woodville Races. Woodvillb, This Day. Maiden— Blackwing 1. .Komnto 2, Musketoon3. All started. Div £6 Is. Hurdles-Sudor 1, Arabi Pasha 2, Hutuna 8. Div £lO 3s. Art Jewel was scratched. Cup—Queen's Guard 1, Battleaxe 2, Will.o'-the-Wisp 3. Bona Fide was scratched. Time 214 1-5. Div £ll os. Grandstand Handicap—Ngaio 1, Grey Ribbon 2, Dartmoor 3. Div £2 6*.
