PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

(I'KR PRKSS ASSOCIATION'.) Waxganux, February 20. The Presbyterian Assembly met at 10 this morning. The advisory board reported that the church extension grants for 1.901 total £912. It was decided to nominate no moderator this year.

Eev. Campbell, ex-Modorator, reported ro his visit to Sydney and of condolence to the King. Eev. Curric was appointed assistant clerk.

The Almanac Committee repoi'a was read, and it was resolved to publish a booklet of church information next year. A letter and an address from tho local Ministers' Association expressing tho high esteem the Assembly has, knowing the churches to stand in the past and recognising tho church in the vanguard of moral reform, they pray for a divine blessing to withstand sacerdotalism, to promote moral reform and lead men to rcpentencc; and they received with gratitude the motion of Dr Elmslie. Tho minutes were adopted re tho late Eev. Wright, Headrick and Ciow, of the Chinese Mission ; the report was read. Eov. Stewart and Mr Lue (missionary) continues the work among his fellowcountrymen. There were no baptisms, though several arc believed to be christians.

The finance was declared healthy. Eev. Ryburn read a report. Tho temperance committee cmph&sieds the weight of Lord Roberts's appoal. The committee protcited against licenses in tho King country.

H 9 members and ministers of the Total Abstinence Society adopted Temperance.

The auditors were re-elected and votes of thanks to the office-bearers and congregation of St Paul's for their hospitality. The Moderator in a retiring address thanked the members for the kindness in assisting him. It was a most enjoyable assembly. Ministers should give help. Tho Assembly adjourned till the next meeting in Novembsr at Dunedin,
