A BLACKBALL GROWL.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —What a singular change has come over the spirit of the County Council’s dream from having been the Champion sweaties of the Southern Hemisphere, they have suddenly developed into a benevolent institution. I refer to their treatment of the Coal Miners, who contracted for that piece of road running at Sherman’s Hofei and terminating, heaven knows where, anyway it is steering for Healey’s Gully. Some of the parties have abandoned their sections, they can do better hewing coal. It would be interesting to know if the council would let the aforesaid sections to local men, diggers and others, at the same price.

I paid a visit to Moonlight on Tuesday last to see the dredge hunched, but, owing to the dam leaking, it did not transpire on that particular date; however, it has been successfully launched since. Well, there were a lot of people disappointed first time, quite a number of people, especially ladies and children, it was quite refreshing to see them roosting on the bank of Moonlight Creek awaiting the advent of some good samaratian to ferry them over on footback. The residents of this district feel deeply grateful to the County Council for the splendid facilities for crossing the creeks in the district. Sindad.
