Mr Theron. in replying to Piet Do Wet’s overtures to the Afrikander Bond leaders to assist the efforts f r securing peace, says that it is impossible for him to recognise the status of the Orange River Peace Committee, which i iet represents. He is unable under the bond constitution to negotiate with a body whoso principles are at variance with the Afrikander party. Nevertheless, he offers the services of the authorities to promote a peace honorable to both sides and harmonising with the declared policy of the Afrikanders. 100 of Strathcona’s Horse join-Badcn-Powelt’s Police after visiting Canada,

Mj Holder informed the Imperial authorities that tho Government is very glad to oiler facilities for recruiting the colony’s quota of 1(J0 constabulary for South Africa.

Dissatisfaction exists amongst the troops recently returned from SouthAfrica. They complain that the pay pro raised from the Imperial authorities over and above the amount paid by the New South Wales Government has been stopped. The matter will be submitted to the Colonial Secretary.

A Reuter correspondent points out that some of the officers and men attached to Deliste commando have been fighting arid treking for over a year and have marched seven thousand miles. Ihcso include Colonel Knight commanding the New South Wales Mounted Eifles. Captain Legge of same corps is De Lisles intelli genco officer, and Watson his galloper, while Lieut Osborne acts as supply officer. [Henry Brown of Greymoutb, is with this division.—Ed. E. S.]

Planter and Lieut Hcnnikers with a detachment of Victorians on Monday, got within five miles of Do Wets laager. The Boers hastily divided, half going a westerly and half a north-easterly direction.

French is constantly receiving the submission of stragglers from Botha’s main commando. Do "Wet after his flight from Ifondraal towards Prieska, obtained remounts westward of JTopetown.
Spi-igg the Capo Premier proposes to confer a modal with an Imperial Star on all British colonial forces that have taken part in the war.
