PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

(PER MESS ASSOCIATION.)

WanganoU, Fobruary 18. The Presbyterian Ge;neral Assembly met this morning. A deputation of the fe'ynod of Otago and Southland and Ministers and Elders sitting for the first time were welcomed by tho Moderator. A private conference of Ministers and Elders was called this afternoon.

The report of the Church Property Board was read and adopted with thanks to the members and chairman.

It was agreed that no junior clerk be appointed to tho Assembly, but that the Minister be associated with a clerk from year to year to assist him. Amended regulations with regard to scholarships and students wore adopted.

An advisory board wa? appointed to act in conjunction with the church extension committee.

At tho evening session the report ci the Scholarships Committco was adopted authorising the committee among other things to tako tho necessary step to the employment of another agent in the King Country district. The matter of the century fund left in tho hands of tho committee, the convener intimating that the Rev. Gillies intended to renew his canvas for the fund at the beginning of March.

The church extension report wa3 read showing the funds to bo in a flourishing condition. A committee was appointed to deal with tho various petition and applications for tho admission to tho Ministry of tho church assembly. Adjourned at 10 p, m. till 7 o'clock tomorrow evening.

The delegates arc to be taken for a trip up the river in the morning.
