Wellington, This Day. The Premier speaking at a banquet sto tho Imperial officers said the time was ripe for asking tho Imperial authorities to strengthen tho Australian squadron. Now Zealand will have to lead in this as in other projects. If extra contributions were required the colony was willing to pay them. Ho repeated his former statement that he did not approve of a standing army, but would strengthen tho volunteer system.
