Mr Coghlan (Government Statist), Fosbery (Inspector-General of Police), Hanson (Director of Charities), are appointed an Old Ago Pensions Board. Intense Heat. The heat wave continues throughout the whole colony at very high registers in the interior and with a protracted humidity on the coast. The Broken Hill water supply is running short.

A meeting of sugar manufacturers carried a resolntion deploring Barton’s statement that ho intended to abolish Kanaka labor, and said if sanctioned by tho Federal Parliament and no other colonies allowed to do work, tho sugar industry will bo speedily extinguished,. State Politics.
Perth, February 13. Forrest resigned the State Premiership and Throssell, Minister of Lands, was ontrusted with the formation of a Ministry. Coal Commission. A Commissioner has been appointed to enquire into the Collie coal difficulty. In the meantime tho men return to work at tho old rates.
White Australia. Melbourne, February 13. Barton, Kingston and Drake, addressed a large meeting at the Town HalL Barton spoke in advocacy of a trans-continental railway and the developcmont of the Northern territory. Acts will be introducedjto effectually minimise and speedily put a stop to tho'introduction of Asiatics as distinguished from South Sea Islanders. The advance will be by gradual steps to the point where the importation of Kanaka labor will bo abolished.
Shipment of Specie. Melbourne, February 13. Fifty thousand sovereigns were shipped to India by tho National. Australian Liberal Association. The Liberal organisation have adopted a platform which includes tho steady development of Australian resourses. Tho preferential trading relations with the Empire, where possible white Australia, and nationalisation area, tho Federal capital maintenance and Australian interview abroad.
