GOLD DREDGING NOTES.
Mr Bringans has a party of men sinking a prospecting shaft on a dredging lease in the vicinity of Greenstone township. The men employed on the Greenstone Creek dredge erecting the machin(.jjj)j_ greatly hampered for want of mt o ro " Work has been practically stopped t fl"> reason.
Acting on the advico of their dredgemaster, the directors of the Greenstone Junction are having their dam widened to allow the dredge to swing around and £ work straight into the creek. Thence they ' will take a cut up the river along the lower boundary as it is the mest systematic way of working the ciaim, and lso becauso a great number of experienced hands believe therc.is good gold in tba' direction. It will also prove a very valu tble tost of the ground. Tho rain that has fa'len of late has not bean nearly sufficient to enable sluicerson the north side of the Teremakau and in the Greenstone Creek valley to continue working. Hence a number have been idle for some time for want of,water. » A party of prospectors have arrived with boring appliances and commenced operations immediately in the Kapitea Creek. It is intended to thoroughly test a number of claims there.
