Owing to the Postmaster-General declining officially to recognise the Post and Telegraph Association, the matter culminated by the staff delivering an ultimatum that they intended (o go out on strike. A conference was held and it resulted in the Minister promising to bring the matter before the Cabinet to-morrow. A truce has been arranged till then. Disastrous Cyclone. Adelaide, January 29. The recent cyclone semaphore was accompanied by a tidal wave, supposed to have occurred through volcanic origin, as the water had a sulphurous taste. Broken Cable. Sydney, This Day. The Eastern Extension Company’s steamer Recorder sailed this morning to repair the New Zealand cable.
