A very liberal programme has been provided. Hokitika, has this year decided to race on the samo day as Kumara namely Easter Monday and Tuesday. It is also stated that the editorial chair will be occupied by Mr Oowperof the East Coast and formerly editor of tho Waikato Argus in the North Island. At a meeting of delegates of the Westland State School, it was decided to hold the annual school picnic at Greymouth on Victoria Park, on February 13th. It is estimated that at least a thousand children will bo present. Buildings are being put up in all directions, but especially so along High street and Marsden road, whore about thirty or more excellent houses have been erected or are in course of erection. This will we presume render a further oxtension of the gas mains necessary, an increased consumption and consequent J increase of income.
