TROOPER MARTIN'S MEMORY.

Trooper Martin was tbo first residunt of Greymouth to fall in the defence of his country, and it has not inaptly been suggested that a monument to his memory should be erected in the town of Greymouth. A gentleman who has the matter much at heart, but who does not desire his name made public, forwards us a donation of £1 towards the fund and suggests that we should open a list. This we most readily consent to do and shall be happy to record in our columns all amounts received for such a desirable object.
