BOROUGH MATTERS.
A special meeting of the Grcymouth Borough Council will be held this evening to consider the raising of a loan from Government to pay off overdraft. If this is agreed to the amount payable in interest is much reduced, and by payment of a small annual sum the amount becomes gradually wiped out. The proposal is a most advantageous one for the Borough and will, no doubt, be taken advantage of. Another question to be considered is a letter from the Harbor Board, intimating that they require the offices now used by the Borough. . The Council is now forced to face the question of new oflices, and the sooner Councillors realise that the time has arrived when Greymouth should be provided with a suitable town hall, the better the ratepayers will be pleased. There is a good site in Boundary Street, and another in Tainui Street, and the Council is in possession of plans and specifications of an approved building, and there is really no valid reason why the building should not be erected. It certainly is cheaper than paying rent. Wo trust the Councillors will rise to the occasion.
