The cold on the Continent is unprecedented. Five persons were frozen to death in London, ten in Paris, and nine in Austria. British Trade Decreasing. The Times in the review of the year says the British trade is on the down grade. Cricket Regulations. The Marylebone Cricket Club Committee has resolved that" the captains of cricket teams shall decide the fitness of the ground and fhe light for play. The umpires havo to decide when the captains disagree. A New Bishop. London, December 8. Eev C. J. Eidgeway, has been appointed Bishop Suffragan of Kensington; in succession to the Rt, Bev. Dr. Earle, the Bishop of Marlborough who retired, but whose title, cannot be resigned. Philippines Deported. Manilag General McArthur the American commander at the Philippines has sent General Delpilar aud four other Insurgent leaders and thirteen subordinate officers to Mabini. Other civilians are sent to Guam. The Air Ship, Berlin, January 8. The Kaiser has decorated Count Zepperlin and directed the Government Aerial Navigation Department to support his experiments with the air-ship.
