THE SIXTH CONTINGENT.

Wellington, This Day. ■Ward cabled lo Kitchener announcing (be probable time of the departure of the Sixth Contingent. Kitchener replied under date. Pretoria, sth “ Very grateful for your telegram. You already know the very high opinion I have of the New Zealanders. They have shown themselves on every occasion throughout the war first-rate soldiers of the Empire, and have been the greatest credit to the colony. I cannot speak too highly of them. —Kitchener.” Napier, This Day. The Hawkcs Bay and Poverty Bay Contingents left for "Wellington by this morning’s express. They were accorded a hearty send off. Wanganui, This Day. Sixteen men for the Sixth Contingent left to-day for Wellington, They were entertained at lunch before their departure and great enthusiasm was displayed. Dunedin, This Day. The section of the sixth contingent left by express for Wellington this morning. The men assembled in the Garrison Hall 3000 people being present, short addresses were given by Colonel Webb, Major-Col. Smith, and tho Chaplain. Tho men marched from the hall to the station. The route was thronged with several thousand spectators, and the utmost enthusiasm was displayed.
