Important business to be done at the Road Board meeting ! Only two members (W.C.R.and W.W.) present to do it ! Why, that's not a quorum ! No, and consequently the meeting had to be adjourned ! Where were the last elected members ? You'd imagine that they at any rate bad not yet lost all interest in their new duties 1 The attendance of the ne*o members, sonny, has been very erratic ! Private business, don't yon know, must take precedence of public duties ! ! lou don't think their absence is caused by temporary attacks of hypochondria through thwarted wishes '? Not in their vocabulary, my boy ! Large increase in the import trade of Ferntown ! New store started to meet the increasing demands ! Think it was wanted ? Doubtful! Think it will pay ? Ah, that's an apple off another tree ! You see. they're a ver-ee carefu' clan over the water ! When one newspaper serves the purpose of a dozen families, it's a difficult matter to tell how much profit can be made out of a bag of oatmeal ! But you're not a monopolist, surely '?
