The first day of the Egmont show was well attended, and the entries were substantially in excess of those last year. In the sheep classes the champions were — Lincoln, J. D. Hughes'; Romney Marsh, J and H. Bests' ; Shropshire, R. W. Foreman's; Cattle— Champion shorthorn bull, A. A. Fantham's Hub' buck ; cow, Fantham's Belle, J. Ball ; Jersey bull, W. Cates' Yorick ; Ayrshire bull, John Caldwell's Earl of Woodlands heifer, T. Scott ; horses— A Hastie's champion draught filly, and A. W. Bridge's champion brood mare, F. Riddiford'a Sinner won the banter's jumping. Lovell and Christmas Chease Trophy — Stirling Dairy Factory, 1 and 2. Egmont Association's butter trophy — Midhurst Cooperative Dairy Company, 1 ; F. Pierard, 2. A number of the classes remain to be judged on the second day.
