The Dunedin Seat.

(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, October 6. Mr A. Sligo, a candidate for the city vacancy addressed a well- attended meeting at the Garrison Hall. He deplored the evils of party government and favoured an elective executive. He expressed approval of various measures enacted by the present Government, but believed that under the Land for Settlement Act there were opportunities for corrupt practices. He condemned the Advances to Settlers scheme. He supports the present system of education, is in opposition to prohibition, but would not abolish the local option poll. He received an attentive hearing and an almost unanimous vote of thanks and confidence.
